Explanation flashing AZbox ME

When you download firmware for the AZbox Me there are some differences. You can download firmware including a kernel (for example Rti), without kernel (example Rsi) or with a seperate kernel ( OpenRsi ).

If you want to know how to flash you'll need to know how flashing a ME works.
OpenRSI is delivered with a seperate Kernel

So how does it works? Sattommy tells us here a short howto:

The azbox got 4 (more but that doesn't really matter for understanding) partitions:
-kernel
-boot0
-boot1
-boot2

You can flash in 3 ways:

1) Image with kernel (such as the RTI releases)
-He puts the kernel in the KERNEL partition
-He puts the image in the selected boot partition

2) Image without kernel
-He remains off the KERNEL
-He puts the image in the selected boot partition

3) Only kernel
-He puts the kernel in the KERNEL partition
-He lets the boot partitions alone.

 What does he start with:
1: it starts up and checked all hardware (from bootloader)
2: it starts the kernel from the kernel partition
3: he starts from the image on the selected boot partition

With this type of start-up, it is therefore not possible to have different kernels.
