Clone war, final chapter

This will be the last post about the clone war in US and Canada, after this we will give this item no single letter attention anymore.

Below you can read the reaction from AZbox Canada about it on this post.

We believe both tell the truth. Both? Yes both!
In our opinion, both are victims from the old owners in the past 2 years from AZbox.

We hope the new owners of AZbox will solve this problem between these 2 distributors.

From now, we forget the past and we will only watch forward!

AzBox Titan running on Fedora and Ubuntu

First at all: we've get an answer from the owners of AZbox within 12 hours on our open letter. Great respect for that! We wait for permission for publishing that answer.

We decided we just look forward and not backwards. Let's say goodbye 2 the past and let give the new owners a chance! We have still frustration about what happened the past 1.5 years but we believe the new owners have nothing to do with it.

Open letter for the owners of the brand AZbox

To: azbox.europe/at/azbox.com
Subject: Open Letter published on AZboxnews

Dear sir/madam,

At first i want to apologize for my English. I'm from Europe ( not from England ).

Today you launched a great video from a great prototype "AZbox Titan". I loved it. XBMC, Android and DVB-S2 in one!

At the same time i remembered this feeling of excitement. After a few hours, i know why i remembered this feeling! It was the same feeling when i watched an announcement from your side of the AZbox ME. Shall i tell you a little joke? I've even drove 200 miles to the Anga in Germany for it!

That time , i was so excited about the idea of an AZbox with Android that i forgave your mistakes with the AZbox Elite ( oops, it wasn't really a twin, wasn't it? ). I even forgave the mistakes with the Premium ( oops, again , it wasn't really a twin, wasn't it? ). At the end the Premium plus arrived, and i have to admit, this one i liked.

It was at this time we had a great distributor in Europe, who solved a lot of problems for you.

Later this great distributor stopped and there was an announcement Android was killed because Sigma wasn't really a reliable partner for you. And here the fuzz begon. A lot of partners ran away from you, there was almost no firmware support ( not official ) and nobody seems to know who Opensat was. Nowadays nobody seems to know who exactly the owners of the brand AZbox is.

Websites are down, communication ( what left of it ) is on Facebook and sometimes on Twitter.

There is a lot fuzz going on about clones ( did you noticed it ? ).

And what are you doing? You release a new AZbox. Samples are send to OpenAZbox ( no, they have absolutely really nothing to do with you, i know! They are just really smart with drivers and more of that stuff ).

Can you understand, we are a little bit sceptic about this? What did you changed in your consumer policy so we can recommend this  new box with dry eyes?

Please help us. Ofcourse you can answer on the blog. Help us to win the trust and love back for AZbox!

Regards,

AZbox Premium HD Plus Clone Information Part II

And the clone soap continues .... Quote from worldwidesatellites ( source )
As many people are aware, popular free to air receivers often get cloned or counterfeit replicas made in China. AZbox clones have been on the market for over a year and certain vendors are taking advantage of this by misleading customers into buying from their company. Some customers fall for this dishonest scheme and others do their own homework before purchasing.

AZbox over? Where are the owners?

Where is Opensat? Does AZbox still exists or is it over now? Who can tell?

Reaction on our blog:
Let me tell you that Opensat/DTinnovations will not clear up anything anymore, since there is no contact at Opensat anymore.
Opensat/DTinnovations has no commercial activities anymore. There is no sales representative or department that takes care of resellers.
I know this, because I got this information first hand.
I know that this way of communicating is nothing new, for Opensat laks communication-skills, which is proven in the past.
Don't get your hopes up high.Portugal will only handle RMA/repairs. The rest is history.
Rick Caylor's forum:

The new AZ Box owners recently told me that they do not have any inventory, but have plans to produce the AZ Box Me and the Mini Me in the future.
I was also told that Opensat and DTInnovations, no longer have anything to do with the AZ Box brand name.
 Also Rick Caylor's forum:

I cannot talk to anyone at Opensat any more.  I have tried several times, but since they no longer have any thing to do with the brand name, the only communication that I have had, has been with my main sales rep that left Opensat and went to work for DTInnovations and now they have also left that company.
Now I have been told that neither Opensat or DTInnovations has anything to do with the AZ Box brand name by that same person.
When Opensat was in charge of the labeling and selling the the AZ Box products, they did have at least 2 different receiver tops.  As I have sold both of them and I purchased them from Opensat, but payments were always sent to DTInnovations.

Untruths about clones

Normally we really don't care about fights between distributors and resellers. But we saw in the past more really good and trustful distributors going out of business thru false rumours and promises. Trustful distributors who didn't lie or didn't make false promises about , for example, Android 2 us, the consumers. Ricks Satellite USA is one of them.

In the past we learned Rick Caylor as a decent person. As a reseller who never promised things wich he couldn't make hard. Ricks Satellite never promised Android.

We think everybody has 2 read his reaction and make up his mind.

If you live in the US: Please support this guy and buy your satellite stuff at his shop. He deserve the support!

It should be a good thing if OPENSAT are going to clear some things : what about this clone rumour, android, future of firmware development, future of AZbox?

Read Ricks statement after the read more :

New firmware for AzBox miniMe American edition - Jan 31, 2013

AzBox Canada is proud to release firmware version 1.20 for the AzBox miniMe American edition. It includes the following enhancements:

  • Upgraded DVB interface drivers for improved performance and stability. Due to the improved initialization of the new drivers, the audio chime is now only played once when the receiver first boots.
  • Reduced delay when resuming from audio player and radio mode. However, there is still a delay when existing the video player which will be fixed in a future firmware update.
