XBMC addons on Enigma2

In the absence of time we missed this news last week but PCD made a new plugin for Enigma2. 

Hi Friends,

Here is a little plugin for running xbmc addons on enigma2 images. Tested on a dm500hd with the latest official image.

Please test the addons streaming German videos - as I cannot test them much in UK.

How to setup Persian Grandeur android 4 app

Persian, known of his releases for AZbox, released Persian Grandeur for Androis in Google Play. Pictures says more than words. It should work with the Persian Prince releases on AZbox.

OpenATV starts testing with 3.9.2 kernel

After the release of kernel 3.9.2 and the new drivers by the Ripper, OpenATV has build an image with this new kernel and drivers.

Although the image is absolutely not meant for production, it looks very promissing.
Betatesters are testing the image, to trace bugs, so OpenATV can fix them and build the image for public release.

We would like to emphasize that the current status of the image is pre-beta. It is only meant for beta-testers.
Nevertheless, nice to know that OpenATV works on a new image.

Persian Prince is First with kernel 3.9.2 Image for AZbox ME

Persian Prince:

first build with kernel/drivers 3.9.2 for azboxme :
it has all kernel/drivers updates but gstreamer won't work now , you should wait (no ETA right now)

It's a Tiny release not Lite or Full so don't expect so much just test booting status , drivers ...
don't forget to write your feedback.

No more AZplay for OpenRSi

OpenRSi has released a new daily build of the Azbox image, in which they have gone back to the MRUA player to play audio and video content.

Thanks to sattommy, it is now also possible to play ISO and DVD content.

OpenRSi has left Azplay, because it was less stable and development has been brought to a halt.

So, from now on, MediaCenter should be a major step forward.

Changelog:
+ DVD playback
+ ISO playback
-  No longer based on Azplay

Known issue:

• Fast Forward (>>) and Backwards (<<) unstable.
• Subtitle configuration -> green screen

Added issues:

• - Subtitles with utf not shown correctly.

Despite of these issues, MediaCenter should work okay with skip-buttons (1, 4, 7 and 3, 6, 9 keys) and >>| seek button

Since a few hours new drivers appeared on Google Code. Now it's waiting when they release firmware which can talk with these drivers.

Release-Image planned for OE2.0

Hong Kong, 18. July 2013. Leontech, responsible for the distribution of the Dreambox brand of Linux-based set-top boxes, is launching three existing models of Dreamboxes into the trade with improved hardware. The DM500 HD as well as the DM800 HD se and the DM7020 HD will be equipped with new memory modules, increasing the performance of these boxes, which have won many awards. In addition a release image will be published for the OE2.0 software for this second generation of Dreamboxes.

OpenATV for AZbox released!

Let's see what the guys of Myazbox.de did with some fundraising. Those guys ROCK!!!!

But this image is also fine for old boxes (Premium/Elite/Ultra)). Also on old boxes HbbTV is running, if you flash the image on an external USB stick, with minimum 1 GB (faster stick is allways better). In this case you must first install flashexpander from feed. You find it in

HbbTV you can install from feed online. You can find it in extensions < hbbtv 2.0.

But with installed HbbTV the box will run very slow on old boxes. So I think, it would be better, not install HbbTV on old boxes.

Kernel 3.9.2 is coming

There a still some devs working for us, the AZbox owners. 

According to the ripper (azbox legend) kernel 3.9.2 is coming :

-fix pixelization on high bandwith h264 streams >10Mbps
-fix driver crashing when exiting pvr mode on EOF signal.
-fix decoding one h264 feed (hiccup video) (some feeds he is watching was making problem)
-removed locking from vtuner write kernel function, not needed anymore
etc...

When the kernel is getting released is unknown. But we think it will be a great moment for releasing with the kernel a statement from the new owners and the mysterious developers of the kernels wich aren't open source and nowhere to find. 

They owe it to the people who bought and own an azbox.

OpenRSi solves MC issues

OpenRSi had some problems with MediaCenter since May.

They have rebuild MediaCenter and gave it a small makeover.

There is a lot of mystery at DTinnovation. Sales-rep gone, no direct address for repairs, no replies on e-mails, and so on.

Surprisingly enough, news has gone all over the world that a new AZBox receiver is in the making: the AZBox Titan.
For now, there are only specs, photo’s and video on the internet.
No one, other then the OpenAZBox team has seen the Titan. Samples were motherboards, probably just a proof of concept.

So far, no one has seen the Titan live, but the hype has begun.

The suggested street price would be between € 140,00 and € 160,00

The OpenAZBox team received some samples with 2 remote controlers. The default one (the right one on the photo), and an additional one equipped with microphone and working with Skype. Some features of the additional RCU are Gyroscope, Acellerometer and vibration.

During the test the OpenAZBox team was able to use the additional RCU as a joystick for playing games.

Pingflood left the building

And another DEV left the scene. Two weeks ago Pingflood helped us with a very nice plugin , today we read (source)  :

Just clearing some points regarding this: I didn't shared the code with RTi and no one asked me any kind of permission to add the sources to your personal GIT.

This kind of behavior just confirms the reason I become offline all of this time, and just corroborates with my decision in abandon this scene.

I hope that at least our friends here at opensat4all can receive the support they deserves for their boxes in the future.

Dutch language package for OpenSPA firmware

This might sound strange, but since this is an English blog .......

Since last week, there is a dutch language for the OpenSPA plugins and menu's.
Let this be a beginning of many other language packs to follow.

It is quite easy to install (in dutch of course).

Installatie instructies:

• Kopieer het IPK-bestand naar een USB stick en plaats deze in de USB poort van de AZBox.
  -  Als de USB wordt gevonden, volgt er automatisch een scherm om de extensie te installeren.
  -  Komt het scherm niet naar voren, ga dan via MENU MENU naar System -> Applications -> Software Management -> Install Local Extensions -> External Storage
• Selecteer met de OK knop de extensie "enigma2-openspa-dutch-language-pack" en druk op de [GROENE] knop.

Primera Beta de la OpenSPA 2.0 para los decos AZBox, hemos adaptado estos decos desde cero a OpenPLi 3.0 y aun quedan por fijar diferentes cosas en la que esperamos conseguir una versión estable lo antes posible con la ayuda de todos vosotros.

En esta Beta no se han usado los últimos drivers publicados hace poco para no demorar la salida del firm y se incluirán en la próxima beta junto con los nuevos cambios o correcciones.

Os dejamos claro que en esta primera Beta el MediaCenter no hace uso de las librerias MRUA que se implementarán en próximas betas para darle una mayor estabilidad en los AZBox en el tema de codecs.

No hemos podido integrar el plugin VideoSettingsSetup para configurar diferentes parametros de los drivers ya que están compilados para OpenPLi 2.1 y no son compatibles con esta versión. Esperamos que el OAM nos facilite este plugin para OpenPLi 3.0.

El TVWeb se ha detectado que ha habido algun cambio en alguna web de peliculas y es posible que no funcione correctamente esa web, se corregirá esas webs o serán reemplazadas en próximas betas.

Es posible que existan alguna otra cosa que no funcione bien o que existan bugs, para ello se habilitará un subforo para reportarlos. Por favor, antes de reportar nada leer las instrucciones del subforo y por el bien de todos pedimos que no se dupliquen los posts de los bugs.

Clone war, final chapter

This will be the last post about the clone war in US and Canada, after this we will give this item no single letter attention anymore.

Below you can read the reaction from AZbox Canada about it on this post.

We believe both tell the truth. Both? Yes both!
In our opinion, both are victims from the old owners in the past 2 years from AZbox.

We hope the new owners of AZbox will solve this problem between these 2 distributors.

From now, we forget the past and we will only watch forward!
